As we head into Q2, many business leaders will focus on growth planning for the rest of 2022 and beyond. If you’re in the same boat, you may find multi-level growth mapping to be a valuable exercise. Multi-level growth mapping is a top-down approach that identifies the overall corporate/organizational objectives driven by vision, mission, and values. From there, you lay out the core drivers across three levels, as shown in the below example:
The best way to do this is to use a digital platform with linking and drill-down capabilities. Each node on the map should function as a button that pulls up corresponding objectives and action steps. For small mono-line businesses, the lines between each level are often blurred. For most SMEs, using a single map could be sufficient. For larger enterprises or holding companies, this can become quite complex with several moving parts. In this case, it may make more sense to create separate maps for each division/line.
